Inchoative Reduplication

Inchoative refers to a change of state expressing the beginning of a state or action, typically one occurring of its own accord. Only the strong-root involves reduplication. Weak-roots receive a suffix to designate the inchoative aspect.

  • ƛ̓aq, hot.
    • ƛ̓aɁaq, it got hot.
  • q̓eʕ, tight within.
    • q̓eɁeʕ, it got inserted
  • c̓eɬ, cold to perception.
    • c̓eɁeɬ, it got cold.
  • ƛ̓il, still.
    • ƛ̓lip, it stopped.
